Vintage Conditions
The 2019 vintage required attention to detail in the vineyard and highlighted the benefit of having four diverse vineyards across the Margaret River region. Steady temperatures through summer and autumn combined with leaf-plucking, shoot thinning and bunch thinning encouraged even ripening. Nets were essential to protect fruit from the bees and birds, with a lack of Marri blossom in the region to distract. The resulting low yields presented fragrant wines with succulent natural acidities.
Winemaking Note
The fruit is handpicked and de-stemmed, with the berries just split to allow for minimal breakdown of the skin and to preserve the natural fruit freshness. The wine is aged in 45% new premium French oak barriques for 18 months.
Palate
Currants, violets, graphite and tobacco leaf.
Palate
Flavours of black cherries, currants and subtle oak spice lead to a palate laden with dense textures of boysenberries, plums and mulberries. A pure core of blue and red fruits guides an otherwise austere focus to a finish of quenching minerality and haunting concentration.
Cellaring
Enjoyed for it's freshness now or cellar for up to 10 years.
